Project description  :

To tackle food waste, for instance in the hospitality sector, there is a great potential for resource related to food overproduction or packaging. By applying the concept of circular economy to the food stream, CEFoodCycle will create a sustainable methodology to avoid food waste, reuse resources and close food cycles in the Alps. Resource saving potentials will be identified in product categories such as fruits and vegetables, meat or dairy products. A digital service system using artificial intelligence will connect stakeholders inside and outside the food stream. The project will enable different stakeholders to take into account resource and CO2 savings and strengthen sustainable and circular economic competitiveness in the Alps.

Project objectives :

Limiting the production of food waste, facilitating reuse in a circular economy thanks to artificial intelligence.

Key actions CCINCA :

Mapping of distributors, restaurants including master restorers and shops supplying local food products.

Identification of value chains and critical points in supply.

Development of synergies with local, regional, national and European food policies

Participation in the development of a tool to study product life cycles using artificial intelligence (beta testing).

Raising awareness on the use of short circuits and the reduction of organic waste.

Supporting identified companies to change their behaviour.

Creating communities of practice around a local food network.

Supporting the transition to clean energy of the HORECA value chain (Hospitality, Catering, Café)

Project description :

The “EE4HORECA” project intends to increase the market adoption of energy efficiency measures, including, where appropriate, the use of renewable energy and the deployment of heat pumps at the level of the value chain of energy players. the Hoteliers, Restaurants and Cafetiers sector. Activities will be developed by involving companies in the accommodation and catering sector.

Project objectives :

The main objective of the project is to improve the energy performance of the HORECA sector and to support stakeholders in their energy optimization plan and investments in renewable energies.The actions that will be deployed in the project to achieve this objective are as follows:

  • Carry out activities to raise interest, awareness, knowledge and know-how about the multiple benefits of collaborative approaches between large and small companies operating in the same value chain.
  • Identify, study and validate economically viable business models (based on the concrete interaction of the participating companies) proving the relevance of a value chain approach in terms of value creation.
  • Develop benchmarking mechanisms and monitoring systems focusing on energy use at value chain level.

CCINCA Key Actions :

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nice Côte d’Azur is responsible for WP7 « Evaluation, Sustainability, Replication and Exploitation of Project Results » and will have to carry out a number of actions necessary for the smooth running of the project, namely :

  • Designing a common questionnaire for companies
  • Collecting data from participating companies and tabulating the results
  • Drafting an evaluation report
  • Development of a data visualisation tool
  • Development and implementation of the operating strategy
  • An exploitation report

The CCI Nice Côte d’Azur also contributes to the analysis of energy processes in the sector, to the identification of best energy practices transferable throughout the sector and to the formulation of recommendations aimed at improving the energy performance of the entire value chain. To do this, the CCI NCA deploys actions involving companies and organizations in the HORECA sector.

Accompanying SMEs in implementing energy efficiency measures

Project description :

The “ENERGYEFFICIENCY4SMES” project aims to support the deployment of actions in favor of the energy transition within European SMEs in the hotel and catering and manufacturing, agri-food and metallurgy sectors. Beyond the performance of energy audits, the project aims to support the implementation of energy efficiency measures and access to funding available on the theme of energy.

The project’s objectives :

Increase the uptake of energy audit recommendations in companies (especially SMEs, but not only) through the implementation of tailor-made support activities covering the whole energy audit process, and potentially beyond.

CCINCA Key Actions : :

Support 33 SMEs in the Alpes-Maritimes in the post-audit implementation of energy efficiency measures

Participate in the creation of an online portal based on the model of the les aides.fr website, listing regional, national and European schemes that contribute to achieving the objective of carbon neutrality in 2050

Manage the overall evaluation activity of the project by implementing methodological and reporting tools (including data visualization)

Project description : 

Funded under the Interreg Euro-Med programme which aims to contribute to the transition towards a climate-neutral and resilient society, the MedSeaRise project has been designed to promote adaptation to climate change, disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches.

Climate change is evident in many aspects, among them the obvious and progressive increase of the average sea level. Thus, the assessment of risks deriving from sea level variations requires a huge quantification of all the elements bringing the sea level to become a hazard.

MedSeaRise project’s challenge is to have essential and reliable knowledge on scenarios on sea level trends to have an effective adaptation to future sea conditions.

At the same time, it is part of the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce’s strategy of supporting businesses in their energy transition and brings together six partners from six different Mediterranean countries: Greece, Italy, Spain, Montenegro, Malta and France.

Project objectives : 

  • Anticipate the consequences of rising sea levels in the Mediterranean for economic players
  • Promote adaptation to climate change
  • Disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches
  • Raise public awareness of the impacts of climate change

CCINCA Key actions :

  • Carry out simulations to study the probability of occurrence of different scenarios relating to the rising waters of the Mediterranean Sea
  • Define a methodology supporting the assessment of risks and the adaptation actions related to sea level rise, specifically suited for the Mediterranean coastal areas.
  • Validate the methodology on the use of sea level trend data in risk assessment processes, through examples of application that have been identified through stakeholder participation and expert analysis
  • Promote the methodology and build stakeholders’s capacity.
  • Share the best practices with regions around the Mediterranean Sea in order to ensure the flow of information within the project, amplifying the results and capitalising on experience
  • Raise awareness of the consequences of rising sea levels among public and economic players and businesses

Official project’s name : SMART – Support small municipalities towards energy Transition

 Project description : 

Funded under the Clean Energy Transition (CET) call of the LIFE Programme, Life-SMART aims to increase the capacity of small–sized public administrations in Greece, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain to design, implement and manage clean energy transition strategies with an integrated, supra-local approach.

Small municipalities usually suffer difficulties in taking action on energy transition, and in implementing ambitious energy policies at local level. To address this problem, the project consortium will work to:

  • activate, train, test and consolidate 5 inter-municipal technical structures, which will take the lead of the design, implementation and management of inter-municipal energy plans;
  • improve the ‘energy literacy’ of involved communities, thus creating the conditions for their informed engagement in the implementation of clean energy measures.

Life-SMART will establish transferrable governance and management models enabling small municipalities to set up more feasible and effective sustainable energy plans and to comply with the requirements of the Covenant of Mayors.

Project objectives : 

  • Improving the energy planning skills of policy makers and technicians working in 22 municipalities in 5 different EU countries
  • Defining 5 inter-municipal clean energy transition paths in 5 target areas
  • Triggering bottom-up initiative for clean energy actions
  • Promoting replication of results towards other territories with similar features
  • Promoting funding schemes tailored to the needs of small-sized municipalities

CCINCA Key actions : 

  • Build and activate for its target area an “inter-municipal technical structure” (IMTS)
  • Define and implement a training program for its IMTS
  • Identify the most appropriate methods for an effective awareness-raising activity, by defining tools and working methods to reach different target audiences, expanding the audience to those who can contribute to the energy transition process.
  • Lead the execution of the Inter-municipal technical structures (IMTS) by building the conditions to trigger concrete actions on energy transition: arranging an appropriate knowledge framework, defining a local/inter-municipal vision and/or updating the existing energy, developing a masterplan or a feasibility study on a selected topic and preparing the documents to launch a specific initiative on energy efficiency or renewable energy sources.
  • Consolidate the previous results and make them permanent in the target areas, ensuring needs and requests of small municipalities are taken into consideration by supralocal (programming/funding) authorities and defining operational models to activate and maintain

“inter-municipal technical structures” suitable to be adapted to different administrative frameworks in the Mediterranean context.

  • Contribute to all the activities oriented to inform the public within the target areas about project goals, progresses and results and to disseminate the project approach to policy makers and stakeholders outside the target areas so to trigger its replication.
